Our 2013 tour of The Importance of Being Earnest ended at the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl on 14 June. The production toured for 20 weeks, a total of 109 performances at 46 venues, playing to an audience of 22,800.
The Importance of Being Earnest has been our busiest and most successful tour to date. The day after the last performance, both the 2012 and 2013 casts joined for a final celebration meal at Joe Allen’s in London to toast the previous 10 months’ work, where it was great to catch up with old friends.
Above all, there was a strong feeling that we had all been involved in something special. We certainly couldn’t have asked for more from our cast and stage management. A fantastic team, working really hard and delivering high standards of professionalism over several months – our sincere thanks to one and all. Firstly, the 2013 cast – Carmen, Laoisha, Helen, Felicity, Paul, Richard, Harry and Peter – you were brilliant. Also, of course, to Judith, Ashley, Helen and Johnny who toured with the show in 2012 and were instrumental in developing the production and bringing it to life. Also to Alix and Fiona, ASMs extraordinaire. Between them, aside from driving a few thousand miles and countless other duties, they made thousands of cucumber sandwiches, muffins and assorted teatime treats, always with a smile.
Finally, an extra special thank you to Kate Wilcock, our superb Production Stage Manager. Kate has been with the company for 3 years, starting as ASM on The Caretaker and we have been very privileged to have her working for us, leading from the front for all this time. Her unflappability, care, attention to detail and sheer hard work have been inspiring. We wish her and all The Importance of Being Earnest company the very best for the future.
